Moving Insurance & Valuation Protection – Know Your Coverage Options

When you book your move with Tough Guys Moving, we provide Basic Valuation Protection at no additional cost. However, if you want extra peace of mind, we also offer Full Coverage Valuation, which must be purchased before your move begins.

Understanding Basic Valuation Protection (Included with Every Move)

Basic Valuation is a weight-based coverage designed to provide compensation for damaged or non-repairable items. It is not based on the actual value of the item, but rather on its weight.

Basic Valuation Compensation:

• $0.60 per pound per article
• Example: If an item weighs 10 lbs, you will receive $6.00 in compensation
• Alternatively, you may receive up to 5% of the total cost of your move for all damaged items
• Basic Valuation weight-based compensation and the 5% move-cost refund cannot be combined

Important Note: Basic Valuation does not replace items at full MSRP. It is designed to help with repairs or contribute to replacing a similar item.

Need More Protection? Upgrade to Full Coverage Valuation

For customers who want higher protection, we offer Full Coverage Valuation, which provides compensation based on the total declared value of your items. This option ensures your belongings are covered beyond the limited Basic Valuation.

Key Features of Full Coverage Valuation:
Based on the total declared value of all goods being moved (not individual item value)
Non-refundable charge added to your moving expense
Compensation is based on the current value of items (not new replacement value)
Claims are processed through an insurance adjuster to determine final value
A $500 deductible applies before coverage kicks in
Must be purchased before moving day (Cannot be added once the job begins)

1-Bedroom Move

• $15,000 minimum coverage
• $162 added to bill (with $500 deductible)

2-Bedroom Move

• $25,000 minimum coverage
• $255 added to bill (with $500 deductible)

3-Bedroom Move

• $35,000 minimum coverage
• $322 added to bill (with $500 deductible)

4-Bedroom Move

• $50,000 minimum coverage
• $358 added to bill (with $500 deductible)

5-Bedroom Move

• $75,000 minimum coverage
• $588 added to bill (with $500 deductible)
